Ivy Threatful was the 2023 Canadian National Champion

A Maple Ridge woman nearly won a medal at the 2023 Pan American Junior Championships, held July 6-8 in Santiago, Chile.

Ivy Threatful placed fourth in the 53kg category at the U20 event. Threatful was a national high school wrestling champion with the Maple Ridge Secondary Ramblers and now competes with the Simon Fraser University Red Leafs team.

Threatful was one of 18 athletes from Canada to compete in the Pan-Ams. She made the team by winning her second national gold at the 2023 Canadian Wrestling Championships in Waterloo, Ontario in March.

The Canadian team won ten medals in Chile, including seven for the men’s team.
