While waiting for official news on the adaptation of The last of us, leaked behind-the-scenes footage continues to be the series’ primary sources of information. HBO. And this time, new footage shows the show will bring to life one of the most memorable places not only from the first game, but also from The Last of Us Part 2: the city of Jackson.
In the games, the location is one of the human fortifications created to protect both infected people and other more violent groups. It’s essentially a colony where people try to recreate the day-to-day life of a city as it was before the apocalypse – and that’s where Joel and Ellie go after the events of the first game, being the point. departure from their suite.
And, it seems, we’re going to see the city in the HBO series. The information came after the leak of a PowerPoint presentation made by the broadcaster to show the city council of Canmore, the Canadian city where the filming will take place. The idea, according to the source who published the photos, is for recordings in the locality to take place in December.

While the settlement also appears in the first game, as where Joel’s brother Tommy lives after the two break up, the look that appears in the pictures is very reminiscent of what we saw in The Last of Us Part 2. The large wooden walls, animal enclosures, and city life itself are a lot like what the PlayStation 4 game presented.
And that says a lot about the division that The last of us must make history. We know that the first season of the show will only have 10 episodes and the big question was how much of the original plot that would cover. And the discovery we’ll see of the city of Jackson is already a big indication that the adaptation should literally show half the game.
The game’s plot is divided by the seasons, with Joel and Ellie’s journey starting in the summer. Thus, the couple arrive in the walled city in the fall, that is to say, halfway through history. At the same time, we see that concept art on display at Canmore City Council is causing the bylaw to prepare for Christmas, which indicates that we will see this extend into winter – that’s when that the game’s script takes a major turn.
Additionally, GamesRadar claims that in addition to the photos, a video about the presentation was posted on YouTube, but was quickly taken off the air. In it there was the information that the city locations would be used from the seventh episode of the series – that is, already in its last third.
Putting all these pieces together, it is possible to believe that the first season of The last of us has to make a few adaptations over time and end right before Joel and Ellie meet with David, one of the game’s main antagonists. So it’s likely we’ll see the main characters brawl, the girl running away, and Joel having to chase her all the way to the University of Colorado big turn – which would give a huge hook for season two.
Of course, none of this is official, as we are talking about assumptions based on the leaked material. However, everything that has been shown so far is pretty faithful to the original material and with that we can guess what the structure of the series will be. However, HBO remains very reserved compared to the official revelations of the adaptation, which even goes without a release date.
