There has been one consistent theme throughout the 2024 Calgary Stampede, and that is the fact that Canadians are performing admirably in saddle bronc racing. So far, five Canadians have qualified for the Sunday Showdown, and there is a reasonable chance that two more will join them.

On Thursday, Canadian brothers took first and third place in the saddle bronc. Logan Hay of Wildwood took first and Dawson Hay of Wildwood took third.

Logan Hay rode Exciting Bubbles for 89.5 points, winning $7,000. Wyatt Casper of Miami, Texas rode Betrayed Cankaid for 89 points, winning $5,500. Dawson Hay rode Trump Card for 86.5 points, winning $4,500. The other five Canadian saddle bronc riders who qualified for the final day of the Calgary Stampede are Zeke Thurston of Big Valley, Alberta, Layton Green of Millarville, Alberta, Kolby Wanchuk of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Lucas Macza of High River, Alberta and Dawson Dahm of Duffield, Alberta.

Another Canadian cowboy made it into Group C on Thursday. Harley Cole of Okotoks, Alberta, took third place in steer wrestling with a time of 4.7 seconds. Bridger Anderson of Carrington, North Dakota, and Trisyn Kalawaia of Hilo, Hawaii, tied for first place with a time of 4.1 seconds.

In the Rangeland Derby Chuckwagon race, Jason Glass of High River had the fastest time of 1:09.45. The overall leader is Chad Fike of Cremona, Alberta, with a time of 8:22.88.
