The Canadian government made the comments Tuesday through its global affairs office the fire incident what happened in his time High Commission in Abuja, the Nigerian capital.
The statement released on X by the Canadian High Commission in Abuja confirmed that two people were killed and two others injured in the fire incident.
An employee who worked on site was among the two people killed, it was said, but no information was given about the second person.
The cause of the fire was reported to be an explosion in a generator room.
“Global Affairs Canada extends its condolences to the families of those killed and wishes a speedy recovery to those injured,” it added.
It confirmed that the other employees were safe and unhurt, adding that they were working with local authorities to determine the cause of the explosion.
“An investigation is underway, but at this point everything points to an accident and not an intentional act,” the statement said.
Due to the incident, the High Commission in Abuja remains closed until further notice.
