Taylor Pendrith of Richmond Hill, Ont., was the only Canadian to win a game at the 2024 Presidents Cup on Saturday at the Royal Montreal Golf Club in Montreal, Quebec. Pendrith and 2013 Masters champion Adam Scott of Adelaide, Australia defeated 2023 British Open champion Brian Harman of Savannah, Georgia and Max Homa of Burbank, California by two.

It was a rather disappointing day for the international team as they only won two out of eight games. The only other international pair to claim victory were Si-woo Kim and Tom Kim of South Korea, who beat American duo Keegan Bradley and Wyndham Clark 4&3 in four-ball action. After three days, the USA are now comfortably in the lead with 11:7.

In Pendrith and Scott’s win, Scott and Pendrith birdied the third hole to go up by one. Harman and Homa then made birdie on the fourth hole to tie the game, then went one better themselves by making birdie on the fifth hole. Pendrith and Scott then tied the game with a birdie on the eighth hole, went one ahead with a birdie on the ninth hole and then went two ahead with a birdie on the 12th hole. The United States then won the 15th and 17th holes, while Scott and Pendrith won the 16th and 18th holes.

Sunday is individual action. Corey Conners of Listowel, Ont., faces Tony Finau, Pendrith faces Patrick Cantlay and Mackenzie Hughes of Hamilton. Ontario meets Max Homa.
