Successful week for Canadian para-dressage riders in Tryon

Two-time Paralympian Roberta Sheffield recorded successful results in the Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI) CPEDI3* at the Tryon Fall Dressage 3, held October 26-29, 2023 at the Tryon International Equestrian Center. Sheffield opened the weekend aboard Delilah, an 11-year-old Hanoverian mare owned by Gail Worgan, in the Class III Grand Prix A test with a score of 72.000%.

Sheffield, who lives in Lincolnshire, England, won the Class III Grand Prix B test with a score of 73.389% and finished the weekend a day later with a score of 78.222% in the Grand Prix Freestyle.

Lauren Barwick of Aldergrove, B.C., traveled north from Florida to compete with her own mount and the Tokyo Olympics horse, Sandrino (son of Spirit of Westfalia), an 11-year-old Westphalian gelding. The five-time Paralympian competed in Class III and achieved a score of 67.389% in Grand Prix A, 67.167% in Grand Prix B and finished the weekend in Grand Prix Freestyle with a score of 75.700%.

In the FEI Grade I division, Jody Schloss of Toronto, ON started the weekend in the Grand Prix A test and posted a score of aboard her own Lieutenant Lobin (Lobster x Fanal Prydsholm), a 19-year-old Danish Warmblood 68.819% gelding. Schloss also competed with her own El Colorado, a 14-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding who earned a score of 65.208%.

A day later, Schloss led both mounts in the Grand Prix B test to scores of 71.180% with Lieutenant Lobin and 69.792% with El Colorado. The duo of El Colorado and Schloss finished the weekend with a score of 72.945% in the Grand Prix Freestyle.

In the CPEDI3* Grade IV division, Joelle Trudeau of Hudson, QC, aboard her own Sinclair, a 15, scored scores of 63.611% in the Grand Prix Test A, 61.712% in the Grand Prix Test B and 69.700% in the Grand Prix Freestyle -year-old Canadian warmblood gelding.

Also in Class IV, Kyla Sorensen of Waterdown, Ontario, and her own Gandalf (Gid Up Winchester x Radjah Z) recorded scores of 63.102% in Grand Prix Test A, 64.004% in Grand Prix Test B and 67.425%. in the Grand Prix Freestyle.
