According to the Canadian Press On Wednesday, Scott Milanovich was named the new head coach of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Milanovich was previously head coach of the Toronto Argonauts from 2012 to 2016. During that time, the Argonauts had a record of 43 wins and 47 losses in 90 regular season games. Milanovich’s most memorable season as a coach in Toronto was 2012, when the Argonauts defeated the Calgary Stampeders 35-22 to win the 100th Gray Cup at the Rogers Center in Toronto, Ontario.
Last season, Milanovich was the Tiger-Cats’ lead assistant coach. Orlando Steinauer was the head coach and president of football operations, and Ed Hervey was the assistant general manager. Steinhauer will now focus on his duties as president of football operations, while Hervey has been promoted to general manager. Previously, Hervey was general manager at Edmonton from 2013 to 2016 and the British Columbia Lions from 2017 to 2020. During this time, Hervey won a Gray Cup with Edmonton in 2015.
Milanovich was a quarterback for one season in the National Football League and Canadian Football League. He was with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1996 and the Calgary Stampeders in 2003. Milanovich also played in the NFL Europe, the XFL and the Arena Football League.
The Tiger-Cats finished third in the East Division last year. They had a record of eight wins and ten defeats. Hamilton lost 27-12 to the Montreal Alouettes in the East Division semifinals.
