Schaffer-Baker and McInnis score touchdowns in Week 2 of the CFL

Kiran Schaffer-Baker of Mississauga, Ontario, and Justin McInnis of Montreal, Quebec, scored touchdowns for the Canadian Football League’s winning teams in Week Three. Schaffer-Baker scored two touchdowns for the Saskatchewan Roughriders in a 33-30 victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ontario on Sunday. Meanwhile, McInnis scored a touchdown for the British Columbia Lions in a 26-17 victory over the Calgary Stampeders at BC Place in Vancouver, British Columbia on Saturday.

In the Roughriders’ victory over the Tiger-Cats, Schaffer-Baker caught a 24-yard touchdown pass from Trevor Harris with three minutes and 43 seconds left in the first quarter and an 11-yard touchdown pass from Harris with 46 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Schaffer-Baker’s first touchdown pass was a converted major score that put the Roughriders ahead 7-3, and Schaffer-Baker’s second touchdown pass was a converted major score that tied the game 30-30. Schaffer-Baker finished the game with seven catches for 109 yards. In 2024, he has 11 catches for 161 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

In the Lions’ win over the Stampeders, McInnis caught an eight-yard touchdown pass from Vernon Adams one minute and ten seconds into the second quarter, at which point the score was tied 7-7. In that game, McInnis caught four balls for 91 yards. In 2024, McInnis has 11 catches for 194 yards and two touchdowns. With those wins, the Roughriders improved their record to two wins and zero losses, and the Lions improved their record to one win and one loss.
