Renowned Canadian singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan has postponed the Canadian leg of her “Fumbling Towards Ecstasy” anniversary tour due to illness.
“My voice is not recovering and I need to take this time to heal,” McLachlan wrote on social media Wednesday. “We are working as quickly as possible to reschedule the shows and tickets already purchased will be honored on the new dates.”
McLachlan was scheduled to play 13 shows across Canada from November 1st to 20th.
She had already canceled several shows in the US after falling ill with acute laryngitis – a temporary inflammation in the throat caused by a virus or pathogen.
“I saw a vocal specialist,” she wrote on social media. “Vocal rest is the most important thing I can do to heal and restore my voice.”
In the comments, McLachlan’s fans wrote messages of support for the singer.
“Watch out. We’ll wait,” one person wrote.
“Take care of this instrument – it is a national treasure! I wish you a speedy recovery!” wrote another.
McLachlan’s “Fumbling Towards Ecstasy” tour, which marks three decades since the release of her eponymous album, has been underway in the U.S. for months, with Nova Scotia-born artist Feist as a special guest.
