Russia supports a return to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the Iranian Nuclear Program (JCPOA). This was stated by the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergey Lavrov, reports TASS.
At the same time, the minister noted that a return to the nuclear deal is only possible in its original form. Any addition or deletion is unacceptable to the Iranian side, Lavrov stressed.
“If the contacts become more active, apparently the parties want to come to a renewal of the agreement. It can only be renewed in the same form in which it was approved by the UN Security Council in 2015. And we fully support this approach, ”said the head of the Foreign Ministry.
Earlier, Lavrov spoke about the main outcomes of the G20 summit in Rome, Italy. According to him, this lies in the fact that attempts to promote unilateral approaches have proved unclaimed.
The G20 is an informal union of the largest economically developed and developing countries. It was founded at the initiative of the United States and Canada at the 1999 summit. This year, the G20 summit is being held in Rome on October 30 and 31.
