A group of Canadian tech companies have partnered with a First Nation in the interior of British Columbia and the provincial government to advance plans for a modern facility that would use carbon from the air to generate a hydrocarbon to replace petroleum in combustion vehicles.

Basically, the energy company Huron Clean Energy is able to capture atmospheric carbon dioxide and combine it with hydrogen to produce viable vehicle fuel that can power most regular gasoline engines and emits up to 90% less emissions. The facility is proposed for the Upper Nicola Band area near Merritt, British Columbia, and will leverage $ 2 million from the provincial Innovative Clean Energy fund for construction.
