Rapper Shubh Issues Statement After Controversy Over Indira Gandhi’s Assassination Hoodie: No Matter What I Do…

Punjabi-Canadian rapper Shubhneet Singh, known by his stage name Shubh, drew criticism earlier this year for sharing a distorted map of India. He was accused of supporting Khalistani separatists amid escalated diplomatic tensions between India and Canada. He recently found himself in a new controversy after sporting a hoodie that allegedly had a graphic print depicting the events surrounding the assassination of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Shubh makes statement after hoodie controversy

Amid the backlash to his video from a concert, he shared a note saying that the hoodie was handed to him by a fan and that he hadn’t looked at the controversial print.

“No matter what I do, some people will find something to turn them against me. At my first show in London I had a lot of clothes, jewelry and phones thrown at me by the audience,” he wrote.

The rapper added: “I was there to perform, not to see what was thrown at me and what was written on it. The team has worked very hard over the last few months to perform for you all. STOP SPREADING HATE AND NEGATIVITY.”

Shubh harshly criticized for “celebrating”. Indira Gandhi is onemurder

After a video of him flaunting the garment went viral, he was accused of “glorifying” the assassination of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by her bodyguards Satwant Singh and Beant Singh.

Actress Kangana Ranaut, among others, also criticized him.

She wrote: “We celebrate the cowardly murder of an old woman by those she appointed as her saviors.” When you are trusted to protect, but you take advantage of that trust and faith and use the same weapons to kill those , who are supposed to protect, then this is a shameful act of cowardice, not bravery (sic).”

“One must be ashamed of such a cowardly attack on an elderly lady who was disarmed and clueless, a lady who was the chosen leader of a democracy, there is nothing to glorify here Shubham ji. It’s a pity,” she added.
