CHANDIGARH: Punjab Vidhan Sabha Spokesman S. Kultar Singh Sandhawan met former Canadian Minister of Health and ex-Prime Minister of British Columbia Mr. Ujjal Dosanjh at his official residence here and discussed matters of mutual interest.
In discussing the issues related to the Punjabi Diaspora, S. Kultar Singh Sandhwan raised the issue of economic exploitation of Punjabi students who went to Canada to study. He said that the mental health of the Punjabi students living there is being negatively affected due to the economic exploitation and that the Canadian government needs to take immediate action to solve this problem in addition to supporting the students on the matter. Mr. Dosanjh assured the spokesman that he would discuss the matter with the Canadian government.
Mr. Ujjal Dosanjh also commented on issues related to the state of the Punjabi diaspora. In this regard, S. Kultar Singh Sandhwan assured that the Punjab government is consistently striving to protect the rights of Punjabis living abroad. The problems of NRI Punjabis will be brought to the attention of the Punjab government for resolution as soon as possible, he added.
