Punjabi singer Gurdas Maan’s Canadian tour postponed due to India-Canada tensions

New Delhi: Gurdas Maan’s musical tour in Canada has been put on hold indefinitely due to political tensions between India and Canada. The tour organizer said on Facebook that the show had been postponed because it was the “most responsible and necessary course of action” at the time. The country was scheduled to welcome the Punjabi singer between October 22 and 31. Gurdas was scheduled to perform in Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary and Winnipeg.

Gurjit Bal Productions, the organizer of the event, wrote in its Facebook post: “We regret to inform you that Gurdas Maan’s Canadian tour ‘Akhiyaan Udeekdiyan’, which was scheduled to take place this month, has been POSTPONED. We understand that this news may come as a disappointment to many of his fans and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.”

“Given the current diplomatic turmoil between the two countries and after careful consideration and assessment of the unforeseeable circumstances, it has been determined that canceling the event is the most responsible and necessary course of action for the time being,” they added.

The statement continued: “We understand the time, effort and anticipation invested by everyone involved in the event and deeply regret the inconvenience this change has caused. We will take the necessary steps to refund any registration fees or ticket purchases made for the event. Detailed information about the refund process will be communicated directly to you via email/website/other preferred communication channel.”

It was said that the concert had been postponed, not canceled.

After Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau claimed in Parliament that a “foreign agent” was involved in the assassination of Khalistan separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar, relations between India and Canada have reached an all-time low. He also claimed that he had intelligence reports and evidence that Nijjar’s death may have been planned by the Indian government.
