The company called the cancellation “the most responsible and necessary course of action,” adding: “Given the current diplomatic turmoil between the two countries and after careful consideration and assessment of the unforeseeable circumstances, it has been determined that canceling the event is the most responsible and necessary course of action for the time being.”
They also said that registration fees would be refunded and new dates would be announced soon. “We will take the necessary steps to refund any registration fees or ticket purchases for the event. Detailed information about the refund process will be communicated directly via email/website/other preferred communication channel. New dates will be announced shortly. Thank you for your understanding.” For those unfamiliar, Gurdas Maan was scheduled to perform in four Canadian cities between October 22nd and 31st.
The ongoing dispute between India and Canada
Diplomatic relations between India and Canada have been tense for several weeks. It all started when Khalistan leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar was killed on Canadian soil in June and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau linked India to Nijjar’s assassination. India denies any involvement in the Khalistan leader’s death and dismisses Trudeau’s allegations as “absurd” and politically motivated.
