“Manitoba must remain vigilant in its fight against COVID-19 and the fourth wave,” said Gordon. “Our numbers of cases, hospital admissions and intensive care continue to fluctuate, but we must remain firm in our approach with the current public health orders that we have in place. We know that vaccination works … to end the pandemic completely, we must all do our part and get vaccinated. “
The municipalities of Cartier, Headingley, Macdonald, Ritchot (Niverville-Ritchot), Saint-François Xavier and Tache are geographically located in the Southern Health-Santé Sud health region. Since their vaccination rates are more consistent with those in the capital region of Winnipeg, as well as their proximity and regular travel to Winnipeg, the new public health orders will see these selected municipalities treated as Winnipeg and the rest of the region. province. All other public health orders remain unchanged.
The province says these orders continue to allow fully vaccinated Manitobans to enjoy as much freedom and as few restrictions as possible, while unvaccinated people continue to be restricted in their activities to reduce transmission and the most serious results. This includes:
limit private gatherings inside households to guests from another household when an unvaccinated person eligible for vaccination is present on the property (even if the unvaccinated person lives there);
limit private outdoor gatherings for households to 10 guests when an unvaccinated person eligible for vaccination is present on the property (even if the unvaccinated person lives there);
reduce the size of indoor public gathering groups to 25 people or 25 percent of capacity, whichever is lower, for gatherings that include unvaccinated people who are eligible to be vaccinated, including weddings and funeral;
setting the size of indoor groups for faith-based gatherings at 25 people or 33% of capacity, whichever is greater, for gatherings including unvaccinated people eligible for vaccination.
limit all sizes of outdoor public gatherings to 50 people; and
Retail capacity remains at 50% in the Southern Health-Santé Sud health region, with the exception of communities in the capital region to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 in that region.
“Treating these municipalities like Winnipeg makes sense, given their higher vaccination rates as well as their daily commute and proximity to the city,” Roussin said. “We need Manitobans across the province to step up and get vaccinated against COVID-19. We continue to monitor several indicators such as vaccination rates, test positivity rate, number of cases and the pressure on our health system to determine our next steps and develop contingency plans if necessary. “
The new orders will go into effect on Tuesday, October 26 at 12:01 a.m. and will be in effect until November 16. Orders will maintain the pandemic response system at Restricted (Orange) with schools at Caution (Yellow).

Fully vaccinated Manitobans now eligible for proof of pan-Canadian vaccination

“Over 83 percent of eligible Manitobans are now fully vaccinated and eligible to request their Manitoba and Canada-wide vaccination QR codes,” Gordon said. “In Wave 4, it remains vital that even more Manitobans receive their first and second doses to help slow the spread of COVID-19 and protect themselves and loved ones from the virus.”
The ministers noted that the provincial government strongly recommends that people continue to use the Manitoba vaccination card while in the province. The PVC includes more information, such as date of birth, date of vaccination and brand of vaccine received. The Manitoba immunization card does not contain any personal health information, which better protects privacy.
The Manitoba vaccination card application will be updated in November to include PVC. At that point, people using the app will be able to switch between them and choose which to present to a location or business.
