Lines 212 and 229 will widen the route along the perimeter corridor
JESSICA BRANDS
The town hall of Campinas, inside São Paulo, has announced further changes in public transport. As of Monday, November 8, 2021, lines 212 and 229 will have extended their operation in the perimeter corridor.
The service of the conventional public transport system to the BRT peripheral corridor will be extended by Setransp (Department of Transport) and by Emdec (Municipal Development Company of Campinas).
Thus, lines 212 (Terminal Itajaí) and 229 (Jardim Florence II) now run expressly (non-stop) on the BRT Perimetral (former bed of the VLT – Light Rail Vehicle), also in the direction of the Center. The measure gives more flexibility to journeys made by lines which together carry more than 17,000 passengers per day.
According to Emdec, the two lines already serve the perimeter corridor to the district (Campo Grande). In the reverse direction, the current routes will be maintained until Avenida John Boyd Dunlop, where the lines access the loop connecting the Campo Grande and the perimeter corridors.
Then they pass the cable-stayed viaduct and BRT bus station, accessing the Dr. Mascarenhas, Sebastião de Souza and Senador Saraiva roads, returning to the conventional route through the Miguel Vicente Cury viaduct and Avenida Moraes Salles.
According to the new route, the 212 and 229 no longer run at Rua José Maria Lisboa, Cadete João Teixeira, Avenida Barão de Monte Alegre and Rua Dr. Salles Oliveira. On this route, they stop at nine points. Three existing stops are now served by the lines, one on Rua Dr. Mascarenhas and two on Avenida Senador Saraiva.
The main link between Centro and Campo Grande, the 212 currently serves around 12,000 passengers per day. At 229, there are approximately 6,000 passengers carried.
LINE 310
Last Wednesday (03), the route of line 310 (Vila Olímpia) was changed to serve residents of Residencial Reserva Laranjeiras, in the district of Nova Aparecida.
With the change, after passing through the Estrada Municipal José Sedano, the line now runs along Rua Três and Rua Joana Maria da Silva, in both directions.
In addition, according to Emdec, Rua Três receives two new bus stops (one per trip), for the benefit of residents of Residencial Reserva Laranjeiras. There are no stopping points on the section of Estrada Municipal José Sedano which is no longer served by line 310.
Line 310 connects the region of Vila Olímpia with the center of Campinas, passing through Avenida Comendador Aladino Selmi, Estação Amarais, Avenida Cônego Antônio Roccato, Avenida Brasil and Avenida Senador Saraiva, among others. Last September, it carried more than 3,300 passengers.
