O Canadian University’s Twitter Profile British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) gained notoriety after the institution said virologist Paulo Paolo Marinho de Andrade Zanotto’s application to live in the country for two years to be a visiting professor at the institution was “on hold.” The case was revealed by metropolises.
President Jair Bolsonaro’s so-called “parallel cabinet” member requested and was authorized by the University of São Paulo (USP) to spend two years in Canada under the pretext of working at the higher education institution.
Since officially positioning itself on the social network about the case, the post has reached around three thousand likes and nearly 400 shares in the post. Typically, disclosures do not exceed 10 commitments. In the note, the BCIT specifies that the biologist has asked to participate in research on water purification and “short term”.
“Paolo Zanotto is not an assistant professor at BCIT. This person contacted BCIT to arrange a short-term, unpaid, non-teaching university visit for research related to water purification. International visits of this nature are subject to BCIT’s internal and external verification processes, including Canadian immigration approval. The request is pending, ”the profile said, in English.
The Brazilian virologist himself went to the profile to explain, in English, his participation in the committee organized to guide the head of the Palácio do Planalto.
“I suggested that the evaluation of vaccine platforms be overseen by the best scientists in Brazil, independently. This suggestion was not accepted. We can only suggest, but we cannot decide. It is the government’s job. As for the treatment, check out the meta-analyzes and studies, ”he said in response to the provocations.

understand the case
The biologist, with a master’s and a doctorate in virology, has become a target of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (ICC) Covid-19 after appearing in a video about the existence of a “parallel ministry” , created to guide President Jair Bolsonaro (non-party) in managing the pandemic in the country. In his recorded speech, Zanotto urges Bolsonaro to take “extreme caution” with Covid-19 vaccines. At that time, the Department of Health was already ignoring emails from Pfizer with offers of vaccination.
In the video, as shown by journalists Sam Pancher and Lourenço Flores, from metropolises, Paolo Zanotto asked Jair Bolsonaro to create a “shadow board”, a sort of parallel cabinet or “shadow group” against the pandemic.
Additionally, Zanotto has already attacked Covid’s CPI order and had a post marked as fake news by Facebook, as columnist Guilherme Amado revealed.
