UNESCO even included Juhri in the Atlas of Endangered Languages. Mountain Jews are one of the sub-ethnic groups of Jews who historically lived in the North Caucasus and the eastern part of Transcaucasia (Dagestan, Chechnya, Kabardino-Balkaria, Azerbaijan). Currently, most of the ethnic group, which numbers 120,000 to 150,000 people, live in Israel. There are also communities in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Germany, Austria, the United States and Canada.
