The 87-year-old’s rodeo begins Monday with a VIP fundraiser.
Rodeo fans are invited to the Canadian Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame at the Calnash Ag Event Centre. At 15:00, attendees will witness the unveiling of last year’s new additions.
Brenda Vold, director of the Canadian Rodeo Historical Association, celebrates the achievements of the newcomers.
“It’s important to showcase the careers and legacy of the participants, builders and animals of the sport,” says Vold.
“We preserve the western heritage and history of rodeo, which ensures the contributions of such amazing people and animals do not go unnoticed.”
“If you’re not able to attend the unveiling on Monday afternoon, we’d still like to see you up on the roof for that evening’s social, dinner and rodeo performance,” adds Vold.
Also taking part in Monday’s draw are some of the best rodeo athletes in the world including three-time bareback world champion Tim O’Connell; Alberta’s Curtis Cassidy, eight-time NFR and 38-time CFR qualifier; plus Ponoka’s Levi Simpson, Team Roper World Champion; as well as athletes who came all the way from New Zealand.
Rodeo events take place throughout the week.
