The Montreal Alouettes remained undefeated in the 2024 Canadian Football League regular season after a 30-20 victory over the Toronto Argonauts at Bank of Montreal Field in Toronto, Ontario, on Friday. A major reason for the Alouettes’ success was the continued offensive prowess of wide receiver Tyson Philpot, of Delta, British Columbia.
Philpot caught a 38-yard touchdown pass from Alouettes quarterback Cody Fajardo with five minutes and 37 seconds left in the first quarter. At that point, the Alouettes led 6-3. The Alouettes never relinquished that lead.
So far in 2024, Philpot has been outstanding and very consistent. He is averaging a touchdown per game as he has caught four touchdowns in four games so far. Philpot’s four touchdowns lead the Canadian Football League. Philpot also has 28 catches for 430 receiving yards.
Philpot is also second in the CFL in receiving yards, with 430 yards, trailing only Alexander Hollins of the British Columbia Lions, who has 457 receiving yards.
The Alouettes are one of two teams undefeated in the CFL this season. The other is the Saskatchewan Roughriders, who lead the Western Division with three wins and zero losses. The Roughriders had a bye in week four. Montreal next hosts the Calgary Stampeders on Saturday.
