A Petrobras and society Forbes & Manhattan Resources Inc. (F&M Resources) signed the sales contract of Shale Industrialization Unit (SIX), in the city of Paraná São Mateus do Sul, for an amount of 178.8 million reais (33 million US dollars). F&M is a private Canadian holding company focused on investments related to the exploration of natural resources, primarily in the mining sector. SIX is the third of the eight Petrobras refining units in the process of being sold to have signed the contract.

“We will always be supporting the local communities where the projects are located and Forbes looks forward to supporting the region around the SIX facilities,” said the president of F&M, Stan bharti, at the Petrobras Agency. The partnerships signed by SIX with the city of São Mateus do Sul must be maintained for the supply of limestone – used in the paving of the city’s roads – and for the disposal of urban waste in areas of the unit already in operation. .

After the completion of the sale transaction, Petrobras will continue to operate the unit through a service contract for a transitional period, while the acquirer structures its processes and brings its teams together. This should prevent any interruption in operation.

According to Petrobras, employees who decide to stay with the company can choose to be transferred to other areas of the company. Another possibility is to join the Voluntary Termination Program, with a set of benefits.

Inaugurated in 1972, SIX currently has a processing capacity of 5,800 tonnes / day of shale, focusing on the production of fuel oil, naphtha, fuel gas, liquefied gas, sulfur and shale water, in addition to holding rights exploration in the shale mine.
