Nic Demski and Kurleigh Gittens Jr. score touchdowns in Week 11

Canadians Nic Demski of Winnipeg, Manitoba and Kurleigh Gittens Jr. of Ottawa, Ontario scored touchdowns for the winning teams in Week 11 of the Canadian Football League last weekend. Gittens Jr. caught a converted 7-yard touchdown pass from McLeod Bethel-Thompson with one minute, 16 seconds left in the fourth quarter on Saturday to give the Elks a 46-22 lead over Edmonton, 47-22, at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ontario. Demski caught a 22-yard touchdown pass from Zach Collaros at 6:54 of the first quarter to open the scoring in the Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ 20-11 victory over the British Columbia Lions at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, British Columbia, on Sunday.

Demski finished the game with six catches for 109 yards. In 10 games this season, Demski has 42 catches for 567 yards and two touchdowns. Demski’s other touchdown came in the Blue Bombers’ 41-37 win over the Calgary Stampeders on July 12.

Gittens Jr. had four catches for 35 yards and a major touchdown. Gittens Jr. has 54 catches for 465 yards and four touchdowns this season.

In the CFL’s West Division, the Blue Bombers improved their record to four wins and six losses, putting them in third place, tied with the Calgary Stampeders. The Elks have now won three games in a row and are 3-7.
