NHL striker Andrew Cogliano ends career at age 37

National Hockey League forward Andrew Cogliano of Toronto, Ontario, has retired at the age of 37. TSN on Friday. Cogliano played 17 seasons in the National Hockey League from 2007 to 2024 with the Edmonton Oilers, Anaheim Ducks, Dallas Stars, San Jose Sharks and Colorado Avalanche.

Cogliano played four seasons with the Oilers from 2007-11, eight seasons with the Ducks from 2011-19, three seasons with the Stars from 2019-2021, one season with the San Jose Sharks from 2021-2022 and three seasons with the Colorado Avalanche from 2022-2024. In 1,294 regular-season NHL games, he scored 190 goals, 274 assists and 464 points. He was a +31 with 449 penalty minutes, 28 power-play points, 36 shorthanded points, 30 game-winning goals, 1,493 faceoffs won, 572 blocked shots, 1,313 hits, 417 turnovers and 509 turnovers.

In the 2023-24 season, Cogliano scored six goals and 13 assists for 19 points in 75 games with the Avalanche. He was a +11 with 16 penalty minutes, four shorthanded points, 61 shots on goal, 54 faceoffs won, 40 blocked shots, 33 hits, 13 turnovers and 14 turnovers.

Cogliano is best known for the eighth-longest consecutive game streak in NHL history, playing 830 consecutive games from October 4, 2007, to January 13, 2018. Cogliano won the Stanley Cup with the Avalanche in 2022.

Effective today, Cogliano joins the Avalanche front office and will be involved in player development and scouting for Colorado, as well as the Avalanche’s American Hockey League affiliate in Loveland, Colorado.
