News about Céline Dion: Trailer for the new documentary released

by Naomi Parham

In an emotional trailer for an upcoming documentary about Céline Dion’s career and life, fans get a first glimpse into the superstar’s battle with a rare neurological disease.

The official trailer for Amazon MGM Studio’s “I Am: Celine Dion” includes clips of Dion speaking about her life-changing diagnosis and how much she misses being on stage.

In December 2022, Dion made public her diagnosis of stiff person syndrome, a progressive condition that can cause muscle stiffness and painful spasms.

All dates of her concert tour were cancelled in the following months.

“I Am: Celine Dion,” which premieres June 25 on Amazon Prime Video, promises a “pure and honest” look behind the scenes of Dion’s life over the past few years, while also shedding light on the musical journey that made the Quebec singer a global phenomenon.

The trailer, released Thursday, mixes archival footage of Dion belting out songs in the studio and performing on stage with grim reflections on the illness that threatened to silence her.

“I work hard every day, but I have to admit it’s a struggle,” Dion says in the trailer after describing how hard it is to have to cancel a show.

“I miss it so much. The people – I miss them,” she says through tears.

However, the trailer suggests that the documentary will focus on Dion’s resilience and her strong desire to return to her fans.

“If I can’t run, I walk. If I can’t walk, I crawl,” she once said. “And I won’t stop.”

Dion, who made a surprise appearance at the Grammy Awards in February, recently told Vogue France that her willpower forces her to work “very hard” to one day be able to perform live again.

She also gave her first television interview since her diagnosis with NBC’s Hoda Kotb, which is scheduled to air on June 11.
