Musician Allison Russell cancels or postpones performances after being caught in a storm

Montreal folk singer Allison Russell had to cancel or postpone some tour dates after she was caught in stormy winter weather in western Canada.

Russell, who won her first Grammy Award last month, posted on her Instagram account that she had to postpone an evening show at the Park Theater in Winnipeg after her tour bus veered off the road and into a ditch during heavy snow.

Russell previously revealed she was “heartbroken” after she was unable to make it to a show in Saskatoon on Saturday due to near whiteouts on the streets.

A show is planned in Hamilton, Ontario. on Wednesday is also listed as “cancelled” on Ticketmaster’s website.

Oji Cree singer Aysanabee, who is touring with Russell, also posted videos of a snow-covered highway on social media and apologized to fans.

A winter storm warning is in effect for many parts of southern Saskatchewan and Manitoba, and Environment Canada is warning residents of heavy blowing and blowing snow.
