McMann scores his first career NHL hat trick

Toronto Maple Leafs center Bobby McMann of Wainwright, Alberta, scored his first National Hockey League hat trick on Tuesday. He achieved this feat in the Maple Leafs’ 4-1 victory over the St. Louis Blues at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario.

McMann scored first at 5:33 of the first period. Noah Gregor of Beaumont, Alberta, received the endorsement. Then McMann scored two Toronto goals in the third period. He gave the Maple Leafs a 3-1 lead against defensemen TJ Brodie of Chatham, Ont., and Simon Benoit of Laval, Quebec, at 8:02, then tied the game with a goal from defensemen Mark Giordano of Toronto and David Kampf empty goal with 1 minute and 39 seconds remaining.

McMann went undrafted and signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Maple Leafs on May 1, 2022. He is making $775,000 this season.

In his second season with the Maple Leafs, McMann recorded five goals and five assists for 10 points in 27 games. He is a -2 with 10 penalty minutes, 42 shots on goal, one faceoff win, eight blocked shots, 52 hits, six takeaways and three giveaways.

With the win, the Maple Leafs improved to a record of 27 wins, 16 regulation losses and eight overtime losses, for 62 points. They are four points ahead of the New Jersey Devils and have a spot in the playoffs.
