Jesse Marsch after Canada’s defeat: “The tournament caught up with us a little bit… At the end of the day, we’re still at the beginning of our process, right? Argentina spent maybe eight, seven years with this team. And that’s why we need to develop more players who can contribute so that we can rotate in tournament play, because at some point the physicality and fatigue can catch up with us. And that was a big part of what happened to us today.
“I think in general, I said this to the team afterwards: I know they’re very disappointed, but I’m very proud of them. You know, we’ve had some incredible performances… We have to continue to challenge our group to stick together and be able to perform in moments like this, but in general, we’ve had five wonderful weeks together, six weeks together, and it’s gone much better than any of us could have imagined, so there’s still a lot of work to do, but we’ve built a really good foundation and I’m very optimistic about the future.
