Lirim Hajrullahu sets the CFL record for most field goals in a game

According to the Canadian Press On Saturday, Lirim Hajrullahu of St. Catharines, Ont., tied the Canadian Football League record for most field goals in a game with eight goals. He did so on Saturday with the Argonauts’ 37-31 win over the Montreal Alouettes at Bank of Montreal Field in Toronto, Ontario.

Hajrullahu made field goals of 32 yards, 17 yards, 28 yards, 11 yards, 49 yards, 35 yards, 27 yards and 37 yards. The eight field goals Hajrullahu made came in eight attempts and converted one.

Three kickers have had eight field goals in a game in the past. The first kicker to hit eight field goals in a game was Dave Ridgway of Burlington, Ontario. Ridgway accomplished the feat twice. The first time was a 46-24 Roughriders victory over the Ottawa Rough Riders on July 29, 1984 and the second time was a 26-15 Roughriders victory over Edmonton on July 23, 1988. Meanwhile, Mark McLoughlin, the it is now based in Trail, British Columbia, scored eight field goals in a game in the Stampeders’ 38-11 victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders on August 5, 1996, and Paul Osbaldiston of Richmond, British Columbia, scored on September 22 eight field goals in one game in 1996 in a 24-21 Hamilton Tiger-Cats victory over the Ottawa Rough Riders.

This season, Hajrullahu has made 49 of 53 field goal attempts. With the win, Toronto improved to a record of eight wins and seven losses and is in third place in the East Division.
