Legendary Canadian rock band April Wine performs a Nanaimo show

A Canadian Music Hall of Fame band will perform their greatest hits next week.

According to a press release, platinum-selling Halifax-based group April Wine will rock the Port Theater stage on Thursday, June 15 while touring western Canada.

The band enjoyed international success in the 70’s and 80’s, releasing more than 20 albums since 1971 and selling more than 20 million albums worldwide.

Her discography includes numerous gold and platinum records and includes hits such as Roller, I Like to Rock, You Won’t Dance with Me, The Whole World’s Goin’ Crazy and You Could Have Been a Lady. According to the publication, the band is best known for their international Top 40 hit “Just Between You and Me,” which was part of the first music videos to air on MTV in 1981, also making them the first Canadian band on MTV Channel.

April Wine has received a total of 11 Juno Award nominations in the categories of Group of the Year, Album of the Year and Best Selling Single.

In 2009, the band was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award for 40 years of service to Canadian music history and inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2010.
