Ryan Beedie is known for his work as a developer and philanthropist.
A Burnaby-born developer and philanthropist has been named Canada’s Business Leader of the Year.
The Canadian Chamber of Commerce has recognized Ryan Beedie with their 2023 award.
Born and raised in Burnaby, Beedie is President of Beedie, one of western Canada’s largest industrial and residential construction companies.
Also widely known as a philanthropist, he has personally donated more than $125 million to 350 organizations – including Simon Fraser University, the Ronald McDonald House, BC Children’s Hospital and The One Campaign, an organization fighting poverty around the world . He also sits on The One Campaign’s Global Leadership Council.
In 2018 Beedie started Beedie Luminaries with a personal commitment of $50 million to provide post-secondary scholarships to promising but underprivileged students, primarily in British Columbia. Most recently, Beedie Luminaries launched his Spark program (Single Parent Awards for Resilience and Knowledge) that helps single parents in financial difficulties with support for full-time or part-time study.
Beedie’s work has received numerous awards and recognition, one of the most recent being the Order of British Columbia.
