Accordingly CBS Sports On Tuesday, the Seattle Kraken named right winger Jordan Eberle of Regina, Saskatchewan, as the second captain in franchise history. He succeeds Mark Giordano of Toronto, Ontario, who was the Kraken captain for the inaugural National Hockey League season in Seattle before being traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs on March 20, 2022. The Kraken haven’t had a captain since then, and before Tuesday, they were the only team in the NHL that didn’t have a captain.
Eberle is entering his fourth season with the Kraken. In 240 games for the Seattle organization, he scored 58 goals and 94 assists for 152 points. Eberle is also a -21 with 65 penalty minutes, 36 power play points, nine game-winning goals, 510 shots on goal, 72 faceoff wins, 89 blocked shots, 122 hits, 164 takeaways and 89 giveaways.
Eberle was a Kraken All-Star during the 2021-22 season and the Kraken leader in game-winning goals and hat tricks. His nine game-winning goals are tied with Alexander Wennberg’s. Eberle is now one of two Kraken players of all time to score a hat trick. The other is Jared McCann of Stratford, Ontario. Eberle had his hat trick on November 4, 2021 in the 5-2 Kraken over the Buffalo Sabres. McCann had his hat trick on January 14, 2023 in the Kraken’s 8-5 win over the Chicago Blackhawks.
