Kent Farrington retires Creedance from the sport

by Horace Rogers

Kent Farrington and his long-time partner, Creed (Breeder: AHA Hassing) celebrated their last international appearance at the CSI4*-W Royal Horse Show in Toronto. They secured victory in the $1.50 million, $80,000 Canadian Open International Speed Challenge, adding to their impressive tally of five other international victories earlier in the year.

“A horse full of energy with the perfect attitude,” is how Farrington remembers his first encounter with the Dutch-bred gelding. “His intelligence and way of thinking make him one of the best horses in the world!”

Creedance, who is already 16 years old, has been at Farrington’s side for almost a decade and shows exceptional jumping skills. Farrington purchased Creedance from Stephex Stables when he was seven years old and fondly remembers the horse’s athleticism and unique personality.

Her most recent victories include two wins at the CSI5*-MLSJ Tour in Traverse City, but also a one-two at the CSI4*-W 1.50m in Toronto, spread over two different shows. They also headlined the CSI5* shows in Spruce Meadows and Vancouver.

“You have to stop at the peak of your career,” says Farrington when asked why now…

Happy retirement, Creedance!
