In a video posted on Instagram Wednesday, Bieber points to his face, moves his eyebrows, and finally smiles.
The video, titled “Wait For It,” doesn’t provide any additional information, but it does suggest that Bieber’s condition is improving.
Ramsay Hunt Syndrome is caused by the same virus that causes Ramsay Hunt Syndrome chickenpox, which remains in the nerves after the chickenpox has subsided. In some cases, the virus eventually attacks facial nerves near the ear, causing hearing loss and facial paralysis.
When Bieber revealed his diagnosis in June, he shared an Instagram video showing that he couldn’t blink with his right eye and that only the left side of his face moved when he smiled.
“As you can see, that eye doesn’t blink. I can’t smile on this side of my face; that nostril will not move. So there’s complete paralysis on that side of my face,” Bieber said called in the video.
