At the 2024 Paralympics in Paris, it will be Jacob Wassermann’s turn to shine. The Humboldt-born competitive rower only discovered the sport two years ago. After intensive training and an international appearance in Rio de Janeiro that earned Canada a spot in the men’s singles rowing at the Games, he is ready to test his skills and strength against the best in the world.

“I’m proud of all the work I’ve put in and how far I’ve come,” Jacob said in our previous interview after announcing his inclusion on the Canadian team. “I’m super excited and super proud of this opportunity to represent Canada and of course Humboldt. I always carry the city with me wherever I go.”

Jacob’s competition begins on Friday, August 30, at approximately 2:10 a.m. CST at Vaires-sur-Marne Stadium with the men’s single sculls heats.

The repechage round will take place on Saturday, August 31st at 2:10am CST, followed by the men’s final on Sunday, September 1st at 1:50am CST.

The residents of Humboldt and the surrounding area will watch along with the rest of the world and cheer Jacob Wassermann on to victory.

A total of 15 people – athletes, coaches and staff – will take part in the 2024 Paralympics.
