Heat waves hit countries along the Pacific such as the United States and Canada.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Canada is experiencing extreme heat. In the country, the heatwave is deadly three days in a row. The air temperature, which had recorded a national record with 49.6 degrees Celsius, slowly fell on Wednesday (30/6).
Extreme weather conditions in western Canada and the United States are said to be triggered by a rare phenomenon called hot domes. It is a condition where the high pressure atmosphere blocks the hot air that is lifted upward and compresses it back to the Earth’s surface.
Usually the wind is able to move hot dome to another region. But the height of the dome in western Canada reaching the Earth’s atmosphere causes it to tend to settle.
Although it is difficult to find the main cause of the emergence of hot domes in the Pacific sky, climatologists believe that this condition is triggered by the phenomenon of the increase in the average temperature of the Earth.
Statistically, extreme heat waves in western Canada and the United States occur once every 1,000 years under normal climatic conditions. But the climate, which is no longer normal on Earth, indicates a high intensity of extreme weather conditions which will become more frequent in the coming years.

The same is experienced by residents of Northern California, United States. Currently, around 1,000 firefighters are still trying to control the three main fires. One of them covers an area of 80 square kilometers, of which only a quarter has been extinct so far.
