CanAm Wrestling hosts its next big show on November 17th at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #104 in Innisfail

INNISFAIL – Wrestling is back in town this month and promoters are taking the grappling action to a whole new level.

Wrestling action on Friday, November 17, at Innisfail Royal Canadian Legion Branch #104 will feature the city’s first-ever steel cage match. This is a type of grappling usually booked for a feud in which two or more opponents must escape a steel cage to become the winner.

Grappling at the Legion, with a start time of 6 p.m., is once again presented by CanAm Wrestling.

In a media release, organizers said they have found that local fans have been following the growing rivalry in recent months between popular upstart “Prospector” Wes Barker of Prince George, B.C., and his opponent, 30-year wrestling veteran “Mr. Beefy Goodness” Vance Nevada.

However, in several recent bouts in Alberta and B.C., wrestling officials have been unable to determine a clear winner, and Otto Gentile, CEO and co-founder of CanAm, is determined to resolve the decision in the steel cage in Innisfail, the release said.

“CanAm is about giving Innisfail fans the best action for the whole family and for those who have followed this rivalry over the last few months, we have to have a winner,” said Gentile.

“Bringing a cage match to the city for the first time gives fans something they’ve never seen before and it’s going to be a tough showdown.”

The five-match card also features a three-way women’s match, pitting reigning CanAm women’s champion Rylie Rose against challengers Kat Von Heez and Vale.

On the men’s side, “Cheetahbear” Jude Dawkins takes on Andy Anderson and Travis Cole goes head-to-head with Scorpious. Another game completes the card.

Advance tickets are available at canamwrestling.ca and organizers expect to sell out ahead of the November 17 event date.

Don Harrison, the Legion’s entertainment officer, said CanAm’s last local grappling event in the fall set a new wrestling attendance record when more than 300 fans filled the Innisfail Legion auditorium.

“It was full. It was good. We’ll see how this develops. “Otto says online ticket sales are going well,” Harrison said.
