Jakarta (ANTARA) – A total of three of Indonesia’s top breakdancing athletes will compete in the 2021 World Sports Dance Federation or the 2021 WDSF World Breakdance Championship at the Théâtre du Chatelet, Paris, France on Saturday local time.

They are Dwi Cindy Desyana who fell in the B-Girls category and Hanafi and Nur Oktavian who fell in the B-Boys category. All three will compete with the best athletes from over 50 countries.

The three Indonesian athletes will first go through the qualifying round in their respective categories. If they manage to pass this phase, they will advance to the final which will take place at 8:00 p.m. local time.

The 2021 WDSF Breaking World Championship will be broadcast live in France via france.tv, the Le Mouv ‘radio network, and worldwide on Olympics.com.

Dwi Cindy Desyana will compete with a number of big names in the B-Girls category such as Vanessa (Portugal), 0Sunny (US), Jilou (Germany), and Ami (Japan), and Vavi (FDSARR / Federation which is home to Russian sports dance athletes).

Meanwhile, Hanafi and Nur Oktavian will face Vicious Victor (United States), Hatsolo (Finland), Phil Wizard (Canada), Kid Karam and Sunni (United Kingdom).

Given the fairly tight competition, Indonesia is not grandiose on target. Cindy, gold medalist at the Philippines SEA Games 2019, will take advantage of this event to gain experience.

So it is with Hanafi. “To be honest winning is very difficult. But we have all trained and will do our best,” he told Antara, before leaving for Paris some time ago.

The central council of the Indonesian Sports Dance Association (PP IODI) sent three athletes to the world championship as a test stage after previously leading a national selection (seleknas).

The hope is that Indonesian athletes can see sports dance competitions on a global level as well as Indonesia’s preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

As we know, breakdance is a new sport, along with surfing, skateboarding and sport climbing, which are contested at the Olympic Games in Paris.

In the biggest sporting event in the world, the breakdance competition consists of two numbers, namely the B-Boys and the B-Girls. Each number provides 16 locations.
