Hydroelectric plants on the Jari and Araguari rivers, in Amapá, will be sold to a Canadian fund | amapa

The hydroelectric plants operated by EDP Brasil in Amapá – Santo Antônio, on the Jari River, and Cachoeira Caldeirão, on the Araguari River – are to be sold to the Canadian fund Caisse de Depot et Placement du Québec (CDPQ)according to information from the company’s press office disclosed by Reuters on Thursday (5).

The deal is expected to close at the end of June and is expected to involve a third factory in Espírito Santo.

According to Valor Econômico, EDP seeks to focus on the production, transport and distribution of solar energy, the axis of the Portuguese company which progressed in the first quarter.

Negotiations are advanced and are handled exclusively with the Canadian fund. The Santo Antônio do Jari plant, on the border with Pará, has a capacity of 392.95 megawatts and that of Caldeirão, in Porto Grande, has a capacity of 219 megawatts.

THE Caisse de Depot and Placement of Quebec operates in Canada mainly with pension funds and in Brazil it has investments and assets in gas and telecommunications.
