(Pocket-lint) If you own a Galaxy Watch 4 and have been patiently waiting for Google Assistant support, you’ll be pleased to hear that it’s officially launched.
Google first released the Google Assistant that works on the Galaxy Watch 4 in February. With the wake word “Hey Google,” the Galaxy Watch 4 opens to a full-screen black interface with a light bar that responds to your voice input. You will also see the Google Assistant logo appear with “Hey, how can I help you?”

How to Get Assistant on Galaxy Watch 4
samsung ask Galaxy Watch 4 users should update to a new Assistant app that appears in Google Play > My Apps list (or search for your watch play store).
After downloading the latest version of the app, Google Assistant will appear as a new icon in your watch’s app launcher. The initial launch will prompt you to “Enable Google Assistant on your watch”. You will then be directed to your phone to complete the setup process.
- Update and run the latest version of the Assistant app on your watch.
- You will be prompted to activate Google Assistant.
- Go to Google Assistant via “Hey Google” and accept Voice Match.
- Select your preferences, such as recording audio and getting personalized results.
- You can now talk to the Google Assistant.
What can the assistant do on the Galaxy Watch 4?
On the Galaxy Watch, feel free to ask the Google Assistant to:
- Manage your time (like “start a timer” or “set reminders”)
- Control your smart home (e.g. “bedroom lighting”)
- Answer their questions (for example, “What’s the weather like today?”)
- Call or message someone (e.g. “call John”)
Can you activate the wizard using the hardware key?
Yes, in addition to the app icon and alert word, the assistant can be activated via the Galaxy Watch 4 hardware key. Go to Settings > Advanced features > Customize keys. It should appear under the “Double press” or “Long press” home key. You can enable or disable “Hey Google” and “Voice output” (in Settings > Google > Assistant).
Who can use Assistant on Galaxy Watch 4?
Google Assistant is available in 10 markets, including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, UK and US.
What languages are supported?
Google Assistant supports 12 languages on the Galaxy Watch 4. These languages include Danish, English (American, Canadian, British, Australian, Irish), Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French (Canadian and French ) and Taiwanese.
Is Bixby still available?
Yes, Galaxy Watch 4 owners can still access Bixby voice assistant functionality directly from their wrist.
