Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ontario, competes after the second round of the 2024 Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions in Orlando, Florida. The 26-year-old is the defending champion of the event, having posted a score of -16 last year by defeating Sweden’s Maja Stark and England’s Charley Hull by four strokes. Despite Henderson’s early success in the calendar year a year ago, it was her only win of 2023.
In Orlando in 2024, Henderson is -5 after round two. She sits in fifth place, three shots behind leaders Lydia Ko of New Zealand and Ayaka Furue of Japan. Gemma Dryburgh of Scotland and Gaby Lopez of Mexico are tied for third place with -6. Henderson is one of two players three shots behind. The other is Alexa Pano from the United States.
Among the frontrunners, Henderson and Ko are Grand Slam champions. Henderson won the 2016 Women’s PGA Championship and the 2022 Evian Championship. Ko won the 2015 Evian Championship and the 2016 ANA Inspiration.
In Thursday’s first round, Henderson posted a score of three under par as she had five birdies and two bogeys. Henderson birdied the seventh, eighth, 11th, 14th and 15th holes and bogeyed the third and ninth holes. In the second round, Henderson posted a score of two under par as she had five birdies and three bogeys. She made birdies on the second, third, fifth, ninth and 17th holes and bogeyed the 12th, 13th and 18th holes.
