Heat warnings extended for BC, Canada’s hotspot in the province

BC is suffering from the recent heat wave that has seen temperatures in the eastern and southern regions of the province rise to between -3 and -4 degrees and above.

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for large parts of British Columbia – from Prince George and Tumbler Ridge in the north through Quesnel and Williams Lake to Kamloops, Okanagan and Kootenay – until early next week.

The warnings come after the Cranbrook, Kelowna, Nakusp, Port Hardy and Vernon areas all broke temperature records on Friday, with temperatures reaching -38.6 degrees Celsius in Kelowna.

On Saturday, Lytton was the hottest place in Canada for part of the day, reaching 41 degrees in the afternoon.
