GTA Walmart Canada customers can now receive online orders in as little as 30 minutes

Steering in the Greater Toronto Area, the Walmart Now service offers customers the ability to shop Walmart’s wide assortment of fresh groceries, pantry and household essentials, such as pet, baby and care items personal items, snacks and more, with delivery in just 30 minutes. It’s the latest example of how Walmart is unleashing its store capabilities and leveraging its existing footprint to improve its omnichannel experience for customers and provide more choice.

Powered by Instacart, a leading grocery technology company in North America the pilot project will leverage Walmart’s existing store network to make this a quick and convenient option possible for approximately 40% of Greater Toronto Area households. Nearly 4,000 of Walmart’s most purchased items will be available to customers through Walmart Now, giving customers faster than ever access to the essentials they need, selected and delivered from 10 existing Walmart locations. Instacart uses Carrot Storefront, part of the Instacart Platform suite of enterprise technology solutions, to enable Walmart Now.

Introducing a 30-minute delivery pilot for customers via the walmart now is the latest way Walmart Canada is investing to make its omnichannel experience the best it can be. Canadaincluding:

  • Unlock its assortment of stores to make over 65,000 items, including basic clothing, toys, personal care and household essentials, available through online grocery pickup
  • Enable customers to pick up their orders faster than ever with express pickup and mobile check-in, available nationwide
  • Establish 2 hour delivery across Canada in select markets, with same-day and next-day delivery available across the country, reaching 85% of Canadian homes
  • Reallocating existing space in stores to improve its online grocery option, such as integrating new cutting-edge technology into its Scarborough West store to help associates prepare orders 6 times faster than a traditional sales floor
