Former Canadian ice hockey player Wayne Gretzky believes that Alexander Ovechkin, the Russian National Hockey League (NHL) forward in Washington, is capable of breaking his marksmanship record. He said so at a press conference, reported on the NHL website.
“In the first game (teams in the new NHL season. – RBK) we’ll watch Washington, Alex chasing me, and hopefully he breaks my record. I’m very happy to have the chance to watch it for a year, ”said Gretzky.
Gretzky, who will act as the league’s broadcast expert, cited reasons why Ovechkin could overtake him in goals scored.
“He’s playing for a good team, with very good crosses. He loves to play and is happy to play for Washington. So he has to be himself, go out on the pitch and play like he plays in every game, ”he said.
