Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –

Member of the DPR Commission II of the faction Golkar, Zulfikar Ass Sadikin proposed that the government increase the budget allocation for political parties participants in the elections.

However, Zul called for the increase to be accompanied by strict penalties. For example, a politician involved in a corruption case or KKN, his party can be dissolved. According to him, such sanctions remain reasonable enough if the allocated state burden is significant.

“If there are such things, say the KKN is like that, if it is necessary, the party is dissolved, in addition to the person who is being punished,” he said in a discussion on the elections at the parliamentary complex, Thursday (4/11).

Citing the proposal of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Zulfikar said the government could, for example, increase the budget of political parties by up to 50%. According to him, the number is still relatively low, because in some developed countries, the budget of political parties can increase by up to 60%.

He gave the example of a number of countries like Germany and Canada. He agreed that an increase in funding for political parties was important to minimize the emergence of a ruling oligarchy.

“KPK once said 50 percent, because in other countries there are 60, in Germany for example 60 percent in Canada and 60 percent, so that my friends who always question the oligarchs can. reduce, ”he said.

In the meantime, the last aid fund for political parties was increased in 2018 through PP number 1 of 2018 concerning the second amendment to government regulation number 5 of 2009 regarding financial aid to political parties.

Through the PP, the allocation of funds for each political party is calculated on the basis of the number of Rp1,000 per valid vote for the central level or an increase from the initial Rp108. Meanwhile, for DPRD and city / district levels of government, it becomes Rp. 1,500 per valid vote.

With this increase, government funding assistance to political parties has increased from Rs 13.5 billion per year for parties participating in elections to Rs 111 billion for political party assistance funds each year.
