Ford recall: Thousands of Canadian customers affected

by Ainsley Ingram

Ford is recalling about 93,000 of its Explorer vehicles in Canada because an exterior part may be loose, missing or detached and could pose a danger to other drivers on the road.

The recall affects certain Ford Explorer vehicles from the 2011 to 2019 model years.

Documents provided by the company state that on some of these vehicles the A-pillar trim clips were not properly secured due to “improper installation or repair.” This can cause these trim parts to come loose while driving, posing a danger to other drivers and increasing the risk of an accident.

“The customer may visually detect gaps around a loose A-pillar trim or detect audible rattling and/or excessive wind noise in the A-pillar area located near the sides of the windshield,” a Ford Canada spokesperson said written statement.

The company said there were no reports of accidents or injuries related to the condition.

2.24 million vehicles worldwide are affected by the recall.

Owners will be notified by mail beginning March 13 and instructed to bring their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer to have the A-pillar exterior trim inspected and replaced if necessary at no charge.
