Donald Sutherland, acclaimed star of stage and screen, has a new award to add to his resume.
Canada Post has released a stamp featuring an image of the 88-year-old New Brunswick-born actor.
According to the Crown corporation, the stamp commemorates Sutherland’s storied career, during which he appeared in more than 200 films and television shows.
The stamp shows Sutherland in profile, overlaid with the titles of some of his most famous projects, including “Ordinary People,” “The Italian Job” and “M*A*S*H*.” Sutherland originated the role of Hawkeye Pierce in the 1970 film “M*A*S*H*” before Alan Alda took over the torch for the TV show, which premiered two years later.
Sutherland starred in the 1978 remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers and the 2005 version of Pride & Prejudice.
Sutherland has won two Golden Globes, a Governor General’s Performing Arts Award for lifetime achievement and an honorary Oscar from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
