Today, on the third day of his four-day trip to Canada, the Federal President is visiting the Lower Mainland.
Frank-Walter Steinmeier will visit the fuel cell company Cellcentric in Burnaby before heading to Vancouver for a roundtable discussion with German and Canadian business representatives.
He will later be greeted by Premier David Eby, will tour the Port of Vancouver by boat and visit the University of BC’s Smart Hydrogen Energy District – a hydrogen fueling station opening soon.
Steinmeier was in Ottawa on Monday when Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced a German plane had flown 58 Canadians out of Sudan as a conflict in the country’s capital escalated.
At a reception in Ottawa, Steinmeier said increasing global autocratic rule is threatening inclusion and the rule of law, and democracies must safeguard these values and protect them from attack.
Steinmeier will travel north to Yellowknife and Tuktoyaktuk on Wednesday for events including meetings with government officials and a tour of the Canadian Forces North Joint Operations Center.
