Tired of the Facebook timeline containing only political fights? Your prayers are answered. Facebook will reduce political content in 80 countries, including Indonesia.

Facebook slowly began to expand their efforts to get rid of political content in the News Feed (News Feed). Reported detiKINET of Committed, Friday (10/15/2021) Facebook introduced a new version of the news feed in the United States, Costa Rica, Sweden, Spain, Canada, Brazil and Indonesia.

Later, 75 new countries were added for this trial. This latest update marks a significant expansion of the effort with a total of over 80 countries involved in this test.

Facebook did not identify the latest countries to join the test, but a spokesperson confirmed that Facebook was showing the feed changes for a small percentage of users in each country. Countries that are ready to vote and are more at risk of political conflict are not included in the test.

Mark Zuckerberg first announced his intention to make the News Feed less political in January 2021.

“People don’t want politics and struggles to take ownership of their experience,” he said at the time.

Rolling out changes in more countries can help Facebook reduce the tension on the platform. Facebook has previously been accused of encouraging political provocation in order to increase the number of users. At the same time, they acknowledged that the changes could harm accounts belonging to mass media.

“As we gain more information from this test, we will share updates on what we have learned and continue to make the appropriate changes,” Facebook wrote in an updated blog post.
