– Emil is awake and doing well under the circumstances. He will be examined and treated at Haukeland University Hospital in the coming days, Sogndal writes on his website.
After twelve minutes of a 1st division match between Sogndal and Stjørdals-Blink on Monday night, midfielder Emil Pálsson suffered cardiac arrest.
Sogndal’s player was successfully resuscitated on the pitch and then airlifted to Haukeland University Hospital in Bergen.
– Difficult
On Tuesday morning, the club said Pálsson was stable.
– It is clear that this is a special event, and it is difficult to manage. But the players handled it very well. The latest report means we understand this is a step in the right direction, Heggestad told NRK earlier on Tuesday.
He said it was voluntary for the players to practice on Tuesday, but most showed up anyway.
The new match time is not ready
The match has been called off, and it has not yet been specified when it will be played. This will be assessed by the Norwegian Football Association in consultation with the respective clubs.
One possible scenario is that the match will be played during the national team break. Competition director Nils Fisketjønn tells NTB they’re not having such a good time.
– We listen to the clubs, but we are not having a very good time. This match must be settled before the last two rounds. We are entering an international period, and if the clubs do not have to release players for national team assignments, this could be resolved very easily during the national team break, Fisketjønn said.
